Elevated Senior Chief Mwabulambya of Chitipa District has pledged to facilitate development in his area.
The pledge followed the announcement from the Ministry of Local Government that President Lazarus Chakwera has promoted him from Traditional Authority.
The elevation, according to the letter from the ministry dated September 4 2022 and signed by Principal Secretary James Chiusiwa, is with effect from August 29 2022.
Mwabulambya: I am motivated
Reads the letter in part: “It has pleased the State President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera to elevate you to the status of Senior Chief with effect from August 29. In view of this development, the royal family members may begin preparations for the installation ceremony of Senior Chief Mwabulambya.”
In an interview on Monday, Senior Chief Mwabulambya said as a government tool in a decentralised setup, he will continue to initiate development for his subjects.
“I have been motivated and I will engage an extra gear to facilitate and initiate development in line with government’s long-term development plan, the Malawi 2063,” he said.
