Councillor for Blantyre City Soche East Ward Leonard Chimbanga has criticized Minister of Information and Digitalization over his response on the recent afrobarometer survey which is favouring the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).
The Afrobarometer results indicate that if elections were held in February this year, 41.2 percent of Malawians would vote for Democratic Progressive Party while 26.4 percent of people would vote for the Tonse Alliance of President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera.
Reacting to the report Kazako said the Tonse administration will use the findings to improve on the way it is managing affairs of government.
He, however, said months after the study was conducted, many things have improved and he believes if another survey was done today, the results would be different.
But the response has not gone down well with Chimbanga who said Kazako is taking Malawians for granted.
“Public trust is a perishable commodity. You take people for granted as you always do the inevitable will happen. Time for being in denial is way past. The report was done in February and your assertion is things have improved. Am not surprised in your government Malawi is raising I don’t know based on what fundemantals?
“The IMF can’t give an EC facility neither can your government produce a report on mis reporting. Those who ate Sattar money are still enjoying our taxes, forex is in short supply so is fuel. AIP is a lost cause. Ministers are crying without offering solutions. So which indicator do you base your narrative on. That kwacha is floating. Leadership is a very expensive commodity to find,” wrote Chimbanga.
Meanwhile, the opposition DPP is currently on celebrations.
