Tit for tat in DPP as members embark on contribution driver toward Nakhumwa’s legal costs

Councillor for Blantyre City Soche East Leonard Chimbanga says some members of the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) have started contributing cash towards the legal costs that four members of the party who won a case against their expulsion demanded.

DPP Vice President for the South Kondwani Nankhumwa and three others were demanding Mk87 million from the party after winning the case.
But the four have withdrawn the case.

Despite the move, the party through councilor Chimbanga is soliciting funds from bornafide members toward the said legal costs.

Chimbanga has confirmed of the development in a statement posted on his official facebook page seen by this publication.

“DPP Regional Governor for the South, Honourable Charles Mchacha has pledged K 2 million towards Nankhumwa’s legal costs claims.

“I am pledging MK100,000 towards the legal costs of our beloved Vice President (South)Dr Nankhumwa and his friends. Let’s all do the same to protect the Party,” wrote Chimbanga.

Reacting to the development, one of the four members also who were demanding the said money Yusuf Nthenda has described the move as day light robbery.

“Those collecting the money they just want to steal from members. We gotten what gotten what we wanted, and that is to stay in the party,” said Nthenda.

Meanwhile, it is not known as to whether the DPP supporters will reach the target money or not.
