Kenya’s president elect William Ruto has reacted to a petition filed to the Supreme Court challenging his victory as announced by the country’s electoral body.
Kenya’s coalition party Azimio La Umoja One led by Raila Odinga has penned the Supreme Court challenging Ruto’s victory, cites rigging as the main reason.
Speaking during Nairobi senator swearing in ceremony, Ruto promised to accept the outcome of the case.
“I’m asking all of us as leaders to listen to what the people of Kenya are saying so that we can conclude the remaining steps of our election, in a peaceful, orderly, respectful manner, respecting all the institutions that will discharge their responsibilities because we are a country governed by the rule of law and by our constitution,” Ruto said.
On the other hand, Ruto’s team, Kenya Kwanza confident of winning the case against Raila’s team.
The country’s Supreme Court is expected to deliver its verdict concerning the matter before 5th of September.
