Paramount Chief Lundu has announced the dissolution of the Bwalo la Achewa grouping, saying having more than one group for the Chewas in the country was confusing.

Lundu announced the development on Wednesday during a media briefing in the commercial capital Blantyre.

In his address Lundu said processes to amend the Chewa Heritage Foundation (Chefo) constitution to have Chefo International as well as national chapters in Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique are at an advanced stage.

On whether or not he will attend the Kulamba Ceremony where Chewas from the three countries pay homage to Kalonga Gawa Undi, Lundu was non-committal, saying he may or may not attend the ceremony in Zambia slated for Saturday, August 27 2022.

He cited ill health as what may keep him away, saying him and Gawa Undi are one.
