Namiwa Cancels Tomorrow Demos; Cites Chakwera’s Trip To DRC As Reason

Anti-Chakwera demonstrations which were slated for tomorrow by Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) under the banner Action Against Impunity (API) have been cancelled.

According to Executive Director of Center for Democracy and Economic Development Initiatives (CDEDI) Sylvester Namiwa, the cancellation follows the departure of President Lazarus Chakwera to DRC.

Namiwa, said they cannot proceed with the demonstrations because they aim at giving their petition to Chakwera directly now that he is out of the country, somehow their plans are disturbed.

He then assured their followers that they will announce new dates of the protest once Chakwera is in the country.

The grouping announced that they will hold demonstrations tomorrow dubbed ‘Chakwera alandire chikalata’, because according to them, they have doubts that council officials who have been receiving their petitions in previous demonstrations gave the papers to Chakwera.
