Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) Blantyre Synod has asked church members to continue observing Covid-19 preventive measures.
The synod’s deputy general secretary the Reverend Baxton Maulidi made the call yesterday when the church through Church and Society Programme engaged members of different Christian denominations on Covid-19 preventive measures.
“The programme is crucial because we are living at a time people are disseminating misleading messages about Covid-19. We, therefore, want to urge people to continue observing preventive measures because Covid-19 still exists,” he said.

He also said it is the church’s responsibility to bring awareness to its members to understand that Covid-19 is deadly.
“We can have healthy church members if people are not sick,” said Maulidi.
One of the participants from South Lunzu Anglican Church, Bertha Malidadi, said she learned new information about Covid-19 which she will share with her fellow church members.
“We will encourage our members to continue observing Covid-19 measures. As a church, we have the responsibility to warn our members about some dangers, besides providing them with spiritual needs,” she said.
As of Monday, the country had cumulatively registered 87 718 Covid-19 cases and 2 673 deaths
