Tight security in Lilongwe ahead of Anti-Chakwera demonstrations

There is a heavy presence of police patrolling Lilongwe Central Business area ahead of demonstrations organised by the Centre for Democracy and Economic Development Initiative (CDEDI).

CDEDI is protesting in a bid to see the president’s immunity scrapped off.

Protesters have started gathering at Lilongwe Community Ground which is the starting point for the demonstrations.

The demonstrations will be held in absence of CDEDI leader Sylvester Namiwa who was abducted on Wednesday by unknown people.
