Shops Closed In Lilongwe Ahead Of Today’s Demos

Reports reaching publication show that many shops in Lilongwe have been closed to pave way for today’s demonstrations organised by Centre for Democracy and Economic Development Initiatives (CDEDI).

The demos are aimed at forcing President Lazarus Chakwera to change section 91 (2) of constitution of Malawi which provides immunity to the President from criminal prosecution.

At Lilongwe Community Centre Ground where the demonstrations are scheduled to start, there are high presence of armed Police officers with handful number of demonstrators on the site.
