7 arrested over robbery in Mulanje

Police in Mulanje are keeping in custody seven suspects including two Mozambicans for allegedly stealing a motorcycle, assorted clothes and MK100, 000 cash.

Mulanje Police Spokesperson Inspector Gresham Ngwira, said during the night of July 23-24, 2022, Joseph January, 28, Felix Manuel, 27, both Mozambicans and five Malawians broke into the house of Lackson Abraham at Ruo Trading Centre in the district and went away with the said items.

“When the owner observed that there were criminals in the house, he shouted for help and although the suspects fled, community members mobilised themselves and followed up until they apprehended them at Mimosa.

“Meanwhile, both the motorcycle and the clothes have been recovered and identified by the owner,” Ngwira said

The suspects will appear in court when paperwork is through.

Police sincerely thanks community members for their untiring support in suppressing crime in the district.
