Judges retirement age to be adjusted upwards

Information sourced by this publication indicates that the Tonse Alliance government of President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera is planning to adjust upwards the retirement age of Judges in the country.

This has been confirmed in circulated Court Amendment Bill number 32 of 2021 seen by this publication.

According to the proposal, the Tonse Alliance government wants to increase the retirement age for judges from 65 to 70.

The Bill will also see the creation of a special Financial Crimes Court and scrape off 4th grade magistrate courts.
