Former Flames coach Meck Mwase has denied reports linking him to the position of head coach for e-Swatini top-flight league side Nsingizini Hotspurs.

One of E-swatini’s newspapers, e-Swatini Observer reported yesterday that the former Flames gaffer will be assisted by Tobias Ntuli.

Reads the report in part: “The club has added Ntuli to their senior team’s coaching set-up as part of their plans to build a stronger team for the 2022/23 season.

“He will be assisting former Malawi national team coach Meck Mwase, who recently joined the team as head coach.”

Mwase: It is not true

But in an interview yesterday, Mwase, who was fired as Flames coach by Football Association of Malawi (FAM) executive committee in April this year, said: “Maybe it’s their wish, but it is not true. I do not know anything.”

On the other hand, Ntuli confirmed his appointment to the e-Swatini publication and was quoted as having said: “Yes, I will be with Nsingizini Hotspurs in the new season.

“I have joined a very ambitious side and I am happy with their vision. This is all I can say for now. The team will make a formal announcement.”

The club’s marketing and communications manager Mphikeleli Dlamini  was also quoted as having confirmed Tobias’ appointment. 

“We are delighted to announce the appointment of Tobias Ntuli as our assistant coach. We believe he will help the team going forward,” he was quoted as having said.

FAM executive committee  fired Mwase during its meeting held in Mangochi in April and replaced him with former technical director Mario Marinica.

But the association later on announced that Mwase was redeployed as Under-23 national team coach.

However, he rejected the redeployment and sued the association at Industrial Relations Court for unlawful termination of contract, redeplorment and constructive dismissal.

Mwase’s contract with government runs up to April next year.
