Gwamba: I want to get the public involved

Gwamba said  through the initiative, he wants to involve the public to participate in fundraising for the needy children at the centre.

“This is what God want us to do. When you are given talent, fame and influence, use it to the glory of his name,” he said in an interview.

The Zidzakhala Better hit-maker said so far he has raised K3 million from the 40 CDs that have been sold. Each CD is going at a minimum price of K30 000. Meanwhile, the artist says he will hand over the money on July 23.

He said: “I am have been encouraged by the response that the initiative has received. These people are buying CDs of an album that they can easily access online. Their buying is strictly to assist Pashello and that is a good spirit that we need to foster.”

Among other notable people who have bought the CD are his fellow artists such as rapper Phyzix, who bought the CD at K50 000, producer Tapps Bandawe bought one at K60 000, Wendy Harawa bought hers at K30 000 and Kell Kay bought his at K100 000.

The artist, who has been working with Pashello Charitable Trust for the last five years, said the establishment needs adequate funds to cater for its needs.

Pashello Charitable Trust executive director Felia Malola described the assistance as timely as currently the place is facing various challenges.

“We have over 300 people under our care. Our areas of need are mainly food items such as maize flour, rice, soya pieces, sugar, cooking oil and salt. We also require diapers, blankets, clothes and milk for the babies under our care,” she said.

Malola has hinted on the possibility of  making Gwamba their brand ambassador.
