Malawi Defence Force (MDF) Air Force Battalion has banned all soldiers under its jurisdiction from indulging into unsury, locally known as ‘katapila.’

In a memo dated July 11 2022, signed by Captain B. A Chikonde and has been addressed to all wings within the battalion, it says indulging into katapila is against the MDF Act and is an offence under Section A4, subsection 19.

“Be further guided that those found indulging into the malpractice shall be disciplined accordingly, ” reads part of the memo.
