Stray Elephant Causes Havoc In Kasungu, Injures One

Game rangers for Kasungu National park have started hunting for a stray elephant which injured a man, Collings Chisi at Jara Village in the area of Chief Chisemphere in Kasungu North this morning.

According to Group Village Headman Jara, the elephant, which is suspected to have escaped from Kasungu National Park, was hiding in a village forest before attacking the man identified as Collings Chisi.

Kasungu Police spokesperson Joseph Kachikho and Director of Parks Brighton Kumchedwa have confirmed receiving a report of a stray elephant wrecking havoc.

Kumchedwa said the department has assigned game rangers to hunt and eliminate the animal as sanctioned by law.
