Chief Resident Magistrate Madalitso Chimwaza has granted bail to four officers from the department of the Accountant General.

The four are; Angelina Mbale, Angela Chiphiko, Hastings Genela and Anderson Mwakiyelu and they were arrested in connection with the theft of K283 million.

Their arrest came after five accountants from the same office were also arrested on the same matter.

They are accused of stealing money from various government Ministries, Departments and Agencies through allowances.

Initially the amount involved was K159 million and has since gone up to K283 million.
