Police in Mwanza have arrested 42-year-old Kings Nyirenda, a tanker driver for Lunyina haulage company after he was found to have carried 229 bags of cannabis sativa each weighing about 20kgs.

Later police arrested Kings accomplice Gift Lapozo who is aged 42.

Police say Nyirenda told them that the bags of cannabis sativa were destined for Zimbabwe.

The two suspects will appear in court soon to answer the charge of possessing cannabis sativa without permit.

Kings Nyirenda comes from Njinga village TA Mberwa in Mzimba while Gift Lapozo comes from Lauji village TA Katunga in Chikwawa.
