The funeral ceremony of late Justice Elton Singini is currently underway in the capital Lilongwe.

Justice Singini died on Tuesday night at Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH).

Speaking on behalf of President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera at the funeral, Minister of Information and Digitalization Gospel Kazako described Singini as strong man and source of wisdom.

Kazako said the death of Justice Singini has left a vacuum which will be difficult to be filled.

On her part, Speaker of the National Assembly, Catherine Gotani Hara has described the late Justice Elton Singini, as someone who played a pivotal role in assisting the legislative arm of government in setting up of dates for the 2020 court sanctioned Fresh Presidential Election.

She added that the country has lost a man of dignity.

Chief Justice Rezine Mzikamanda has said the role the retired Justice Elton Singini played in transitioning from one party rule to multiparty will live forever.

He said late Singini stood by the truth and upheld the rule of law.

Until his death Justice Elton Singini, SC was the chairperson of the Governing Council of the University of Lilongwe.

He was appointed a Justice of the High Court on 25 August, 1995, and he took oath of office on 9 December, 1995.
