Police in Mulanje have arrested six suspects for allegedly breaking into a Catholic Priest house.
According to Mulanje Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) Sub Inspector Gresham Ngwira said during May 10-11 this year, unknown criminals broke into the house of Father Carel Kafunsa, Priest at Ntepuwa Catholic parish where they stole assorted items and cash amounting to K800,000.
“After the case was filed, the police intensified investigations and last week we arrested two suspects ; Timothy Mailisi Chilomo, 49, from Nampungo village, Tradditional Authority Juma and a 16 year-old boy (name withheld),” Ngwira said.
He added that the investigations led to the arrest of four other suspects on the night of June 30, 2022 identified as Fostino Sela, 33, from Muliba village, Promise Mothiwa, 25, from Masasu village, Innocent Chiondo, 36, from Ntepuwa village and Elias Namwera, 33, from Chingwalu village all hails from Senior Chief Chikumbu in Mulanje district.
The suspects are expected to appear in Court soon.
