Farm manager died by suicide after being accused of stealing 4 tomatoes

ZAMBIA – A FARM manager in Ndola on the Copperbelt Province has committed suicide after being accused of stealing four tomatoes from a farm he was managing.

ZANIS reports that Francis Chanda, 26, a manager at Kasongo Farms drank some pesticide which ended his life after labelled him a thief.

The accusation infuriated Chanda who then resorted to taking about 500 milliliters of phoskill insecticide before he ran into the bush where he became unconscious.

A search for Chanda was then embarked and he was found lying down on the ground and was later rushed to Ndola Teaching Hospital where he died after being admitted for a few hours.

Copperbelt Province Police Commanding Officer, Sharon Zulu, confirmed the incident stating that it occurred on July 3, 2022, at around 14:00 hours in Kasongo farm block in Ndola.
