The University of Malawi (Unima) formerly Chancellor College has described rumors that are making rounds on social media that the university has withdrawn 480 student as unfounded and baseless.

Alfred Banda, Unima’s spokesperson said the school will soon issue a statement clarifying on the misleading information.

Social media platforms were awash with reports that Unima has weeded at least 480 students of which 22 are first year students and 260 are continuing students.

According reports, the students have been dismissed due to poor academic performance.

Banda has therefore asked the general public to dismiss the said reports as they wait for the official communication from the university.
