Dear judge Mbadwa,
How time flies, My Lord, there are only a few years to 2025 as two years have now gone since Nyasaland ushered in a new regime.
My Lord, it has been some time, too, since that Fort Manning-based business magnate, Iron Hill, gave us an unsolicited public lecture which removed scales off the eyes of most Nyasa citizens.
It is not that he said anything that most of us didn’t know before, but he ascribed meaning and gave definition to the current Nyasaland malaise.
At the rate we are going, my lord, and even under the watch of Tokha Alliance (or Tokha are Liars), our standards in the way of doing business are too low to bring meaningful change.
And now that it has been two years since Tokha took the reins of power, all we have been subjected to are rebuttals, press conferences and presidential addresses that are only aimed at clearing the mess within the Tokha.
Meanwhile, development projects still stagnate as the cost of living skyrockets.
My Lord, in between we have seen the value of Nyasaland’s currency being dragged into dust in the manner of Kabanza motorcyclists’ mischief while the Nyasaland Energy Regulatory Authority contributed to impoverishing Nyasas with their punitive fuel hike.
We knew all along that corruption of greed has spread its tentacles among people of influence so much that politicians in power and public officers grab every opportunity to make a killing at the expense of the nation.
I don’t think there is a minister or senior government official who is genuinely occupying that seat to advance the interests of the nation.
All those pretenders, my lord, want to maximise illegitimate wealth creation as long as they operate within the ‘it has pleased President Lazaro’ to keep you in government.
And they have gullible media teams, which survive on the accursed riches, supporting these people without integrity and they do not hesitate to pounce on anyone who dare accuse their paymasters of being corrupt
How people are perfecting the script of abuse that was authored by Mapuya and his Demagogic People’s Party is something that boggles my mind, my lord.
My lord, even Mapuya’s people who created the mess we are in are sounding as saints as if they are not the ones who started the mess.
Sometimes you get the impression that Lazaro is all alone because the vultures surrounding him are only waiting to scavenge on taxpayers’ money to fatten themselves.
My lord, Nyasaland is not some deceased estate that has been shared among some greedy uncles and aunties at the expense of the widows and orphans who are the citizens.
My lord, Iron Hill sobered many of us but we did not learn anything since we have failed to redeem our nation.
I hope these remaining years will be better for Tokha if they wake up from their slumber and realise that the citizens expect something better from them.
Let them start implementing campaign promises.
Regards,
John Citizen.
