Chakwera under fire for crippling Chilima

President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera’s decision of dismissing the inspector of police George Kainja and other top officials from their duties due to corruption cases left unanswered questions to Malawians.

The President also withholds the vice president, Saulosi Chilima from his duties for being involved in the case of Zunneth Sattar without explaining to the public his offence in details.

Speaking with Face of Malawi reporter, Bridget Makawa Chonde resident in Thyolo said the president should explain the main reason what the vice president did in order to have the punishment, just like he explained the reason of the inspector.

“The President said he has stopped giving government work to the vice president which in reality the vice President has been dismissed,” Makawa said.

She added that the President should come openly and explain how Chilima was involved in the corruption case of Sattar.

“We want to know what the 84 suspects did, how they are involved not only selected ones and the ACB should work hard in order to deal with corruption in the country.

According to Chikumbutso Maliko, Mulanje resident said corruption in the country will not come to an end because the very same people we voted into power are at the fore front of doing unspeakable things whereby encouraging the malpractice.

“The president should have said his statement in Chichewa for every Malawian to understand his speech because his remark has left more questions on the rural Malawians who have problems with the foreign language he used, he explained.

Mayamiko Matola, Thyolo resident concurred with Maliko to say the whole case is pointing to one thing which is the country is surrounded by corrupt politicians who are greedy and wants to satisfy their goals by deceiving poor Malawians during campaigns.

“During the 2019/2020 tripartite election campaign they promised us a lot of things which we longed to have but surprisingly when they come into power they have turned the tables upside down which is a worrying thing for the country, where are we going to be by the end of 5 years?” Matola concluded.

Meanwhile, Chakwera has called for an emergency meeting with Tonse Alliance partners.
