Angry family members of a wife have broken into a church to attack her husband, who was about to tie the knot with someone else.
Using a marriage certificate, the husband’s family stormed a church in an attempt to thwart the ceremony.
When a mob of people invaded a church in Sierra Leone’s capital city of Freetown on Saturday, the wedding had to be halted.
The wedding took place between a married man and a lady who was previously married.
When the man’s wife’s relatives learned of the impending nuptials, they descended on the church armed with the marriage licenses.
A copy of their marriage certificate was brought in to show the presiding Bishop that the man was already married to a member of their family, and the ceremony was halted as a result.
The marriage was annulled after the marriage certificate was read by church elders and the officiating Bishop.
Some of the wife’s family members swarmed the husband as he exited the church.
A few of his groomsmen were able to save his life and provide him with a safe route out of the situation.
