A friendly match between domestic football powerhouses Nyasa Big Bullets and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers will spice up this year’s Independence Anniversary Celebrations at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.
Both teams confirmed being approached by the Ministry of Youth and Sports on the match.
Nomads head of commercialisation Clement Stambuli said in an interview yesterday that they have accepted the offer through the ministry.
Ndalama: Details will be announced by OPC
He said: “It is a national duty and we feel honoured to entertain Malawians during such an important occasion.
“We are going to accept the terms as set by government.”
On the other hand, the People’s Team chief executive officer Suzgo Nyirenda also said they feel humbled by government’s gesture.
“We are ready to play and what remains are the logistics in terms of preparatory resources and appearance fee,” he said.
Ministry of Youth and Sports director of sports Jameson Ndalama confirmed the arrangement, but said the details will be announced by the Office of the President and Cabinet who are organising the event.
“So, at an ideal time, a statement regarding the activities will be issued by the OPC,” he said.
Usually, the national football team plays an international friendly match as part of the celebrations, but the Flames will be in Durban, South Africa taking part in the Cosafa Cup.
