Mzuzu, Mana: Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) has introduced a toll-free number for easy communication between its clients, members of the general public and the authority.
Speaking in an interview recently, Communications Manager for MACRA, Zadziko Mankhambo said the authority has decided to rollout the initiative to provide a platform through which it can interface with the public on various for prompt redress.
“The toll-free number which is operational nine hours a day will be used to deal with issues to do with licensing procedures and other general information under MACRA domain,” Mankhambo said.
Mankhambo said the initiative is of paramount importance to the people as they will now have a chance to report and submit complaints regarding communication issues that affect their day to day life.
“People are going to have free access from any point to reach to MACRA and lodge their complaints as well as compliments,” he said.
He said the response from people has been positive as they have welcomed the development saying this is the way to go in this digital era.
Emmanuel Mwangupili, a resident of Mzuzu, City commended MACRA for the initiative saying the intervention will go a long way in providing cheap means of reporting grievances to the authority.
“This initiative will help us lodge complaints with the organization and expect responses on time. It will also help MACRA and communication sector to improve service delivery,” said Mwangupili.
The number, 261, was launched on Friday 17 June 2022. The number will be operational during weekdays from 8 am to 5 pm and it’s reachable through MTL, TNM, Airtel and Access service providers.
