Thehighly billed Kuche Kuche product launch at Lilongwe Golf Club on Saturday ended with mixed outcomes as unstable power supply and some artists’ poor performance appeared to dampen the mood.
The show, organised by Castel Malawi, started around 5pm but progressed on a slow note until Skeffa Chimoto came on stage, dishing out his best tracks to the excitement of revellers at the fully packed venue.

While unstable power supply from diesel generators and the national grid appeared to trigger on and off performances that left people waiting, the mood was further dampened by the short-lived performance by Onesimus.
After playing three numbers, he told men who are broke that they should not go into romantic relationships because women needs to be cared for and to be spoiled with more money.
The sentiment angered some male patrons who started pelting him with empty bottles until he was whisked away from the stage by security personnel.
After the incident, Don Taz came onto the stage and lit up the mood with his energetic performance and thereafter the musical feast continued with performances of Anthony Makondetsa, Black Missionaries Band, Lucius Banda and many more that kept fans passing the night away.
Castel Malawi managing director Herve Milhade said they rebranded the Kuche Kuche bottle to give customers a good feeling of entertainment, hence the musical show to celebrate 20 years of the brand’s existence on the market.
He said: “As a Malawian beer, we brought Malawian artists to celebrate this iconic Malawian beer with iconic Malawian music. We have mixed old timers and new artists to create a perfect blend for the audience”.
One of the patrons, Alexander Phiri described the show as well organised despite the power supply issues that affected seamless flow of entertainment.
