Suspect Thief Beaten For Stealing Mobile Phone At Limbe Market

There was chaos at Limbe market in the early hours of Friday morning where by angry mob beat up a young man for stealing a mobile phone from a business woman.

A woman identified as Margret Yobe from Nancholi was in Limbe market ordering fish and other food stuffs for her business when the man opened her bag and brought out Tecno Pop 4 which belonged to her friend.

Eye witness, Violet Tembo said she saw the man taking the phone from the woman’s bag and she shouted for the man to stop what he was doing.

“I saw the man taking the phone from the woman’s bag and that was when I shouted to distract the man. After hearing my scream he started running but with the help of the people here he was caught,” Tembo said.

She said after he was caught he threw the phone on the ground in order to look clean as if he did not take the phone.

When the reporter of the story arrived at the scene she found the thief badly beaten and with the help of other people he escaped.

Speaking on the matter Margret Yobe, the owner of the phone said she was busy buying fish when she heard the woman screaming but she was not sure whose phone was being stolen.

“It was when i searched my bag and found out that the phone which was stolen was the one which was in my bag that belongs to my friend, i started shouting and with the help of people here i got it back,” she explained.
