The Lilongwe Senior Resident Magistrate Wanangwa Nyirenda has dismissed an application by well-known social commentator Joshua Chisa Mbele in a case in which the police are pushing for revocation of his bail for flouting some of the bail conditions.

Last week the state brought a document said to be a screenshot of Chisa Mbele’s Facebook page to be tendered in court.

But the defence objected to the move, saying the said evidence is not admissible before the court forcing the presiding magistrate to reserve his ruling on the matter to today.

In his ruling today, Senior Resident Magistrate Wanangwa Nyirenda allowed the state to use the said evidence in court.

The Magistrate has also given a chance to the defense to inspect gadgets that were used to produce the said document.

The state want Chisa Mbele’s bail revoked accusing him of flouting some bail condition in a case where he is accused of publishing a fake document on Facebook containing names of top government officials allegedly connected to Zuneth Sattar.

The case has since been adjourned to Friday this week.
