Winiko summoned to police over land wrangle at Chitipi in Lilongwe

Information reaching this publication indicates that former National Youth Director for the United Transformation Movement (UTM) Bon Kalindo and Alfonso Jamali Chairperson for Green Park Village have been summoned for questioning at Lilongwe Police Station.

The summon follows an ultimatum the two gave to Mohammed Abdul Manani, a Malawian of Asian origin to vacate a land at Chitipi.

Jamali has confirmed the development in an interview with one of the local media houses in the country.

On Sunday, Kalindo threatened to kill Manani if he refuses to surrender the land to the villagers within 7 days.

Meanwhile, Manani has said he will not surrender his land at Chitipi in Lilongwe to anyone.

According to Manani, he bought the land in 1999 and villagers were the ones coming to him asking him to buy the land from them.

He added that Traditional leaders also witnessed and approved the sell.
