Good news for HIV positive people

Human trials for a potentially innovative HIV medication that has been heralded as a possible “cure” for the infection are ready to begin.

The American Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared the treatment’s advancement to Phase I/II human trials, according to a press statement from Excision Biotherapeutics, a biotech firm.

EBT-101, Excision’s possible treatment, is being researched in collaboration with Temple University researchers in Philadelphia.

“If you only make a single cut, the virus may adapt around it,” Excision CEO Daniel Dornbusch told Fierce Biotech. To disable the viral DNA, we make numerous incisions.”
