A 40-year-old Malawian man is in police custody for murdering seven people within nine months in Phalombe and Mulanje districts respectively.

South East Region police spokesperson, Rodrick Maida, has identified the suspect as Mukhwiri Manyamba.

According to Maida, the suspect Mukhwiri has been terrorizing the two districts by killing people and stealing assorted items since August 2021 through April 2022.

He said the suspect will appear in court soon to answer murder, robbery and house breaking charges, among others.

Manyamba hails from Jeke Village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Kaduya in Phalombe district.
