Some Malawians have lambasted a pro- opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Civil Society Organisation trading under the name Forum for National Development (FND) for attempting to block Goshen City project of Prophet Shepherd Bushiri.
FND has written the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) to probe the source of funds the source of funds for the project.
In a letter signed by Fyson Chodzi, the group claim that Bushiri is a fugitive from the law in South Africa where he is accused of money laundering and financial crimes among many others allegations.
Chodzi said with the background of such serious crimes in South Africa, it is only proper that any huge investment by Bushiri must be investigated to determine the source of funding.
But the move has not pleased Malawians, with many storming his official facebook page to mock him over his decision.
Ministér Ron wrote: “I don’t follow bushiri but this is useless, even if its money gotten through any way atleast he is doing something than these useless guys who know just speaking and nothing on the ground… Shuu.”
Another concerned citizen identified as Stonneck Thawe wrote: “Leave Bushiri alone. He steals from the rich and give it to the poor. Our own Robinhood.”
Concurring with Thawe’s remarks Enock Gracia wrote: “I think it’s wrong decision to politicise everything. That kind of behaviour makes others failed to invest their money in Malawi’s development.”
Meanwhile, Bushiri is yet to comment on the matter.
