Business came to a standstill at Nandos in Blantyre on Sunday as angry passengers assaulted two Traffic Police Officers who wanted to impound a minibus for contravening road regulations.
The traffic officers who were using a Toyota Salon vehicle stopped at Nandos after seeing a minibus which was wrongly parked.
The traffic police officers from Wenela Police Station ordered all passengers in the minibus to disembark.
But this did not please the angry passengers. The passengers jumped one of the traffic officers and started assaulting him.
The other passengers pulled down one of the officers who boarded the front seat of the minibus while shouting at them.
The passengers described the traffic officers as thieves who are milking Malawians especially motorists in the country.
The traffic police officers were seen running for their dear lives.
