Homeland Security Minister, Jean Sendeza, has ordered all Prison Warders involved in phones syndicate and other criminal activities to be interdicted.

Sendeza has issued the directive today after meeting prison top leadership over a spate of criminal activities ranging from escape of prisoners to smuggling of phones.

“I have also directed the officials to come up with a report on how they are dealing with the matter within seven days from today.” She said.

The Minister has also ordered the Department of Prison Services to institute an investigation and report within 30 days, security lapses at Zomba Central Prison.

Commissioner of Prisons, Wandika Phiri has since assured Malawians of total security and promised to seal or holes in the prison system.
