Former United Democratic Front (UDF) President Atupele Muluzi has trashed rumors that he has joined one of Tonse Alliance’s key party, Malawi Congress.

Soon after announcing his resignation from active politics and stepped down as UDF leader, one of the country’s online media publications wrote story that the young Muluzi has joined MCP.

But Atupele has said the communication is untrue, nor has he talked to President Lazarus Chakwera as the publication spreads.

“The Nyasatimes published today an Op which is a complete lie and fabrication. I have not joined MCP nor have I spoken. about this with President Chakwera,” said Muluzi.

When announcing about his resignation, Muluzi said he has transitioned into a Pan-African business executive.

According to Muluzi he is now the Chief Executive Officer for Aya Corporation Limited which is at Covent Garden in London.

Lilian Patel has been appointed interim president for the party.
