Reports reaching this publication indicates that a 39-year-old man identified as James Kachala of Chiwamba village in the area of Traditional Authority Chikowi in Zomba, has committed suicide by hanging himself after murdering his girlfriend.

Details of the incident show that Kachala murdered the girlfriend Annie Kholokotoko, 20, of the same area in Zomba District after suspecting her to be in love affair with another man.

Annie was in form 3 when she was assaulted to death by her boyfriend.

After committing the offence in Zomba, Kachala ran away to his brother’s home in Mwanza where he committed suicide.

Police are yet to comment on the matter.
