Chief Justice Rizine Mzikamanda has urged leaders to be transformative if the country is to develop.
He made the remarks during a Dynamic Leaders and Gatekeepers Forum held on Friday and Saturday at Bingu International Convention Centre in Lilongwe.
Mzikamanda: Challenges are global
Mzikamanda, who was the guest of honour, said the country needs transformative leadership to address challenges facing people.
He said: “It is important to have transformative leadership, especially in turbulent time like the one we are going through when things have gone bad not only in Malawi, but globally due to various challenges such as the Covid-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine.”
Dynamic Leaders and Gatekeepers Forum executive chairperson the Reverend Zacc Kawalala said the forum is designed to empower leaders from various fields in government and the private sector.
He said: “The forums are organised to challenge leaders and gatekeepers not to give up in bad situations we are in like the Covid-19 pandemic, tropical storms and Russia-Ukraine conflict.
“The forums equip leaders and gatekeepers with knowledge so that they should rise up and bring change in bad situations.”
The meeting was also attended by the Anti-Corruption Bureau director general Martha Chizuma and St John of God Hospital chief executive officer Dr. Charles Masulani.
