Malawians Call For Justice For Martse

Malawians on social media have joined government officials who are demanding a clarification in what caused the death of hip hop artist Martse real name Martin Nkhata and are calling for justice.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Uchizi Nkhata, said the departed rapper “was on a vacation in Mangochi and during the night, he went to the living room to charge his phone. It was when fire started and together with the other friends managed to get out. But Martse went back to the house where he got burned.”

Reacting to the explanation, Malawians said the story is incomplete and needs more to be explained.

They continued that the said story of what really happened needs to properly be investigated as it doesn’t make sense.

In his remarks Minister of tourism Michael Usi the fact that people screamed in disagreement when the events were being explained mean that the family must explain further.

Concurring with Usi, Minister of Sports and Youth Richard Chimwendo Banda has asked the police to investigate because the story does not appear to add up.

One Facebook user Chimwemwe Phiri said “Something is wrong. We want to hear the truth from the family, what if the family don’t know what really happened? Were some family members available at the scene of accident? If NO then they too are giving out what they have heard probably from those who were with Martse in the house. I think police should act in hurry to investigate what really happened, otherwise what we are hearing is not making sense.”

Mwiza Mphande “I have heard people dying of fire burns but not in so many occasions does a person go back into fire after breaking away. The storyline behind Martse’s death is not adding up. There is more to it. Justice for Martse.”

Ianny Gringo-Man Maongah “Something is fishy it must be digged out, imagine the person has managed to escape now for all the guys who were there only him decided to return back in a house where fire is all over.”

Richard Qoto “The story is not adding up, what really happened to loose such talent young man, people are eager to know the truth, so sad.”

George Majamanda “The work of the devil, we won’t know the truth surrounding this death.”

Charles Mandah “It really doesn’t make any sense. The police should investigate of course, but a proper explanation could be given by those who were there witnessing the fire outbreak, otherwise if the family was not there, then they cannot explain better.”
