ZAMBIA – Police in Chipata have arrested a general worker of Walela Primary School after he was reported to have attempted to rape a 26-year old Grade 9 learner of the same school who is a deaf and dumb.

Friday Phiri aged 28, of Walela Township, offered a lift to the victim, who’s name has been withheld, on his bicycle before cycling her into an unfinished building.

Eastern Province acting police commanding officer Davies Simwanza told journalists yesterday that the victim was on her way back home from school when the incident happened.
