An 18-year-girl Brenda Masikini has committed suicide at Lituni village after being confronted by relatives to end her relationship.

Chiradzulu Police spokesperson, Innocent Moses has confirmed of the incident in an interview with the press.

According to Moses, the deceased committed suicide in the house of her boyfriend at Monjeza village.

Moses said it is believed that the deceased took poisonous substance and started producing foam from her mouth.

He added that Masikini was rushed to Namitambo Health Centre where she was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Postmortem conducted by a medical practitioner from Namitambo Health Centre revealed that death was due to consumption of poisonous substance.

Brenda Masikini hailed from Lituni Village in the area of Traditional Authority Mpunga in Chiradzulu District.
