Pangolin case: Pakistan national, four others granted bail

Zomba Chief Resident Magistrate Austin Banda has released on bail a Pakistan national and four Malawians, who are being accused of illegally possessing a pangolin in Mangochi.

Jai Banda, who is lawyer for the Pakistan national, Ali Muhammad, reapplied for bail of his client on Friday at the court in Zomba arguing that his client has been unwell for some time.

Magistrate Banda has ordered Muhammad to pay a cash bond of K1.5 million and to surrender all his travelling documents.

The other four accused have been ordered to pay a cash bond of K25,000 each.
