Chimulirenji resurfaces in blue camp, spotted at DPP rally in Balaka

De-facto Vice President Everton Chimulirenji has re-launched his political career and on Sunday attended a rally organized by Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President for Eastern Region Bright Msaka in Balaka.

Chimulirenji went missing after he lost the Vice Presidency post following the nullification of the 2019 Presidential polls by the Constitutional Court.

The nullification of the polls saw former President Peter Mutharika partnering United Democratic Front (UDF) President Atupele Muluzi in the fresh Presidential polls which saw President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera being declared winner.

Since then Chimulirenji shunned all DPP functions including the rally held at Njamba Freedom Park attended by the party leader.

But yesterday many Malawians were surprised to see Chimulirenji at the rally in Balaka.

At one point, Chimulirenji was spotted sharing notes with DPP regional governor for the South Charles Mchacha and DPP aspiring President Dalitso Kabambe, former Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) governor.

The rally was also attended by former First Lady Getrude Mutharika.
