Unconfirmed reports indicate that the Malawi Police Service (MPS) have summoned Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Director General Martha Chizuma in conncetion with the leaked audio clip.
According to Social media commentator Onjezani Kenani, Chizuma is scheduled to appear at National Police Headquarters tomorrow at 10 a.m.
Kenani is claiming that there is a plot put in place to have Chizuma fired as the ACB chief over her fierce way of handling corruption in the country specifically those connected to businessman Zuneth Sattar.
According to Kenani, the plot is to frustrate the fight against corruption in the country.
On the other hand, Joshua Chisa Mbele is asking Malawians of goodwill to help him with a solidarity march to the police station where Chizuma will be questioned.
“Calling all Malawians who stand against Impunity & Corruption to gather tomorrow at Police Headquarters Area where Martha is summoned,” wrote Chisa Mbele.
Both the police and Chizuma are yet to comment on the said summon.
In January this year, Chizuma was implicated in an audio clip where she was discussing with unknown individual on how rotten the country is in as far as corruption is concerned.
President Lazarus Chakwera decided to maintain Chizuma as ACB boss after the matter reached his hands but sent a strong warning to her.
Chizuma who admitted that voice in the audio clip is indeed hers, acknowledged her mistakes
Since the audio leaked, there have mixed reactions as some push for firing of Chizuma for allegedly breaching the secrecy oath of office, of which some are giving her a second chance claiming that so far she is the only trusted person to rescue the country from the jaws of corruption.
Recently, one Frighton Mphopho who has just been exposed that he is a United Democratic Front Governor (UDF) for Chikwawa (but masquerading as a Mzuzu resident) went to court seeking for Chizuma’s case related to the audio reviewed, which the court, suspiciously gave a go ahead.
As if that was not enough, politician-cum comedian Bon Kalindo has also announced that he will mobilize Malawians to go to the street to push for Chizuma’s firing related to the same audio clip.
