A 32-year-old woman in Mulanje Blessings Pondani, who was found guilty of hitting a fellow woman with a hard object on her left eye, will serve a three-year custodial sentence after she failed to pay a fine of K1.2 million.

The victim, Maureen Kachingwe aged 25 who has speech and hearing impairments lost her eye.

The incident according to Police Prosecutor Hartwell Kachikonga happened on 12 December last year, when the two women engaged in a fight.
