Police in Mzuzu have launched a manhunt for suspects that are alleged to have a hand in the murder of a one-year-old girl at Chibavi residential area in Mzuzu on Monday.

Mzuzu Police Spokesperson, Paul Tembo says the girl was reported missing, Monday morning and after an intensive search around the area, her body was found in a shallow well for one of the houses in the neighborhood.

Tembo says the body was then taken to Mzuzu Central Hospital where a postmortem conducted revealed that she died of suffocation from Strangulation.

Once arrested, the suspects will answer the case of murder contrary to section 209 of the penal code, according to Tembo.
