Four Minors sent to Reformatory Centre over Theft in Mzuzu

Mzuzu first-grade Magistrate Court has ordered four minors to go to a reformatory center after they were found liable for theft contrary to section 278 of the Penal Code.

The court heard, through Child state prosecutor Sergeant Christina Shadreck, that the minors committed the offense within Mzuzu City in different places.

Shadreck Further narrated that this is not the first time for these minors to commit similar offenses in that they have been breaking into cars and stealing gearboxes

Appearing before the court, minors pleaded guilty to both counts that were laid before them.

In mitigation, minors prayed for leniency saying that they are still young and they need to go to school.

In submission, Sergeant Shadreck asked for these minors to be sent to a reformatory center so that they can be reformed.

In his determination magistrate Robert Makaika agreed with the state for punishment and ordered these minors to go reformatory center.
