Motorcycle Operator Killed in Ntchisi, Police Launches Manhunt

Police in Ntchisi are hunting for unknown assailant who murdered a motorcycle operator, Matiyasi Mtenje, 45, during the night of April 11, 2022 at Kandani area in the district.

According to Ntchisi Police Spokesperson Sergeant Yohane Tasowana Mtenje was hired by unknown person at Ng’ombe trading centre and went towards Mbuyedziko.

It is alleged that upon reaching Kandani area, the passenger attacked Mtenje.

The criminal stabbed him several times before robbing off a red SAN LG motorcycle.

Mtenje was taken to Kansonga Health centre and later Ntchisi District Hospital by well wishers.

He was pronounced dead upon arrival at Ntchisi District Hospital.
The postmortem results shows that death was due to excessive loss of blood due to head injuries.

Police in the district are strongly appealing to people, especially motorcycle operators to refrain from operating their business during odd hours.

The police also wishes to assure people in the district of maximum security as they have established intensive patrols and that any motorcycle operator found operating during odd hours will be arrested, and have their motorcycles impounded.

Matiyasi Mtenje hailed from Malayitcha village in the area of Traditional Authority Malenga in Ntchisi District.
