Former Flames coach Meke Mwase says he does not know that he has been fired following the announcement by Football Association of Malawi (FAM).
According to Mwase, he is just hearing the news on social media since he has not received any letter from FAM explaining the reasons for his firing.
He added that his performance should determine his fate as he was given the target to take Flames to AFCON which he did by defeating Uganda at home.
“As per my contract, my performance is supposed to determine my exit or firing. I was given a target to qualify for the African Cup of Nations (Afcon) finals and at least reach the round of 16. I did all that to perfection and I do not know why I have been fired,” he said.
According to FAM, it has hired Romanian coach Mario Marinica as permanent of coach of flames following his success at AFCON.
Marinica was FAM Technical Director before taking full charge of Flames at AFCON.
