Power outages have delayed delivering a ruling in a case in which the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) spokesperson Shadreck Namalomba dragged Parliament to court over the roles of the leader of the opposition.
High court judge Mzondi Mvula was scheduled to deliver the ruling on 7th April on whether it’s necessary to quiz DPP secretary general GrieIlder Jeffrey and Speaker of national assembly Gotani Hara by Namalomba lawyers in the case.
Lawyer for the leader of the opposition Keshani Chidothe told the local press, that the ruling may come today or Monday.
“The honorable judge notified us that due to power outages, the ruling was not ready.” He said.
The matter under the legal lens is the stay order obtained by Namalomba restricting the leader of the opposition to among others, seeking written consent from the party before performing his duties.
